Background
Federal accessibility regulations have applied to state and local government capital projects since the 1960s, expanding their scope from the front entrances of county courthouses to the picnic tables on a town-operated nature trails. Numerous - and sometimes conflicting - regulations and guidelines may apply to a city streetscape or village park, leading planners to ask: ‘Just what should I do?’

This workshop, presented by Livable Streets, Inc. and the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals, will provide additional detail on how to apply the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in communities.
